IO power adjusted on the PSL.
I adjusted the power in the IO path in the PSL to be 1.1W in front of IO_MB_M3. The power incident on the top periscope mirror is 210mW. This increase is necessary to align beams on IOT1/IOT2L...

restarted EPICS OPC gateways for Beckhoff h1ecatc1
I generated new EPICS database files with Daniel's updated parser. This splits the databases into separate files for input records and input/output records. It also splits the records into multiple files to limit the number of records in each. This was necessary because too many channels would keep the EPICS OPC gateway from running. We can also now scan the input and input/output records at different rates. I quit the EPICS OPC gateways that were running, and started new ones for these databases. There are now 17 instances of the EPICS OPC gateway running on h1ecatc1. This seems to allow more channels to connect, but I'm not sure how much it will help performance. As more instances are running they take longer to start up. We may have to try spreading the processes over multiple cores, but I don't believe there is currently a way to have this done automatically.

BS TFs
Mark B.

Travis has corrected an EQ stop on the BS (see 5096), so I'm commencing DTT TFs.

Data taken, damping restored. The plots look somewhat better, but T, V, R and P are still not great.

h1 HEPI HAM1 model started with temporary ADC

Hugo rebuilt the h1hpiham1 model to use the one working ADC on this system (ADC card 0). We restarted the IOP model h1iopseih16, it had glitched earlier today. Both IOP and HAM1 models were added to the DAQ.

Currently the h1seih16 front end is not connected to the Dolphin fabric. There is no need for IPC currently on HEPI HAM1, so we will keep this off the Dolphin network until the ADC problem is resolved.

PSL RF status

Michael, Rick, Kiwamu

All servos are now running on the aLIGO RF sources. The final step on Friday was to lock the FSS and tune up the servo. We used one full box for the delay line to set the phase, with 24 ns delay in the first half and 7 ns delay in the second. The common gain was set to 18 dB, up from 17 dB before. This gave us a UGF at 400 kHz with 58 degrees of phase margin. We are still running on the old RFPD and will have to install the new one at some point.

PSL plots

For the 35W beam. The DBB plots were taken with the modecleaner locked and driving the FSS.

The amplifier diode power level has dramatically dropped but it is hard to know if that is an actual drop or a result of the decreasing humidity in the laser room, which is now at its lowest point yet.

CP1 and CP2 level control still feezing when outside temps are below 23F (ongoing prob)

Efforts made months ago to fix the dryness of the instrument air supply to the Corner Station succeeded in drying out the instrument air but haven't fixed the freezing of the LLCV needle valves of CP1 and CP2 for sub 23F temperatures -> For tonight, I added low-wattage drop lights engulfed within foil tents to thaw stuck parts and then exercised/stroked the needle valves to free them up -> The next step is to stop flow through the transfer lines to allow them to warm-up to ambient and then to remove the needle mechanism to inspect/dry. This will have to be done during the daytime.

IMC locking

[Cheryl V., Chris M., Kiwamu I., Keita K., Michael R., Rick S., Paul F.]

This afternoon the input modecleaner was locked!

Effectively the same feedback filters as in L1 were used.  The lock was achieved as soon as the VCO feedback path was enabled, at a visibility of roughly 70%. This is shown in the attached stime series; the first lock occurred at around GPS time 1041991500. Soon after, the alignment was adjusted to try to improve the visibility, probably causing the loss of lock. After relocking, the alignment was adjusted, bringing the visibility to around 94%.

One of the LVEA cameras is currently pointing at a TV monitor which shows the IMC_REFL beam (a very temporary solution until we can get the signal directly to the control room). The embedded youtube video shows the IMC_REFL beam at the best visibility so far achieved.

The second attached file shows the power spectrum of the PSL frequency control signal, calibrated in the same way as for L1. The character of the H1 IMC and L1 IMC frequency feedback signals are quite different below about 60Hz. Next week we can look at this, and many more features of the locked IMC, in more detail.

plots of dust counts
Attached are plots of dust counts > .3 microns and > .5 microns in particles per cubic foot from approximately 6 PM Jan. 10 to 6 PM Jan. 11. Also attached are plots of the modes to show when they were running/acquiring data. It appears from the plots of the status, that the dust monitor at location 15 alarmed once for a calibration failure (status 1).

Ops summary
* Apparently the tumbleweed crew worked throughout the day between MX and EX.
* The roll-up door crew at EY finished the door and departed.
* Apollo installed the blanks on the HAM 6 septum and put the doors back on HAM 6 (see WP 3645). The HAM 6 doors are completely bolted and torqued.
* Currently the LVEA is in the modified laser safe condition. It appears that this condition will remain in place throughout the weekend. The IO table is shut and locked at present.

Dust monitor 15 alarmed periodically throughout the day. H0PEM_DUST.adl shows 15 near BSC 4 (H2 BS); Patrick suspects that its actual location is near HAM 2 or HAM 3. The monitor that the IO team unplugged might be #9.

BS TFs
Mark B.

I did some TFs on the BS using DTT:

/ligo/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/BSFM/H1/BSTST/SAGM1/Data/2013-01-11_1230_H1SUSBSTST_M1_*_WhiteNoise.xml

It's pretty sick - L and Y are not to bad, but R, T, V and P are nothing like what they're supposed to be.

WBSC1 IAS/HEPI
IAS has given me numbers. I am unable to move HEPI the requested amount (8mm -X) until the East side Caging Brace Front Faces are moved (removed). Hopefully we'll be able to reinstall these which allows the HEPI to be locked. Once this is done we can attempt the translation East. I believe there is room otherwise for this move. Caveat: The Actuators are not attached; they have interferences that are not directly determinable now.
For the record, contrary to many statements from SEI to date, BSC1 has only been marginally locked if it can be said it was locked at all. Most lock bolts were not engaged and only a few of the 40 were doing anything.

MC1 damped TFs
Mark B. and Cheryl V.

Cheryl adjusted the damping gains on MC1, MC2 and MC3 to fix the overdamping observed in recent TFs. A fresh round of MC1 damped TFs will commence shortly to confirm the effectiveness. The Measurement Status indicator will go on for the duration of the measurement and then go off automatically.

New damped TFs look rather more reasonable. However even better filters and gains based on LLO experience are being installed and there'll be another round of TFs in a few days.
