Triple Test-Stand Housekeeping
[Stuart A, Jeff B]

Jeff is ready to commence taking transfer functions on the triple test-stand and asked if all the recently updated automated Matlab testing scripts had been deployed. I therefore logged on remotely and svn'd up the following directories:-

/ligo3/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/Common
/ligo3/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/HSTS
/ligo3/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/HLTS

and just for good measure...

/ligo3/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/BSFM
/ligo3/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/QUAD

Earlier today I committed (rev 3913) of the Schroeder Phase Tools "Matlab_TFs.m" function, which fixed the argument validation for X1 and X2 triple test-stands, allowing HSTS and HLTS optics to be used. This was tested at LLO and has now also been tested and rolled-out on the LHO triple test-stand.

An example, for PR3 (HLTS), was added to the end of the "LHO_Matlab_TFs.m" script, demonstrating how to automate taking sequential M1-M1 undamped and undamped Matlab TFs on the LHO (X1) test-stand.

stuart.aston@LIGO.ORG - 15:51, Tuesday 08 January 2013 (5049)
I noticed that the EUL2OSEM and OSEM2EUL matrices were configured for a HSTS so I used the "make_sushlts_projections.m" script to generate the necessary elements and "fill_matrix_values.m" to populate the medm screen (as per LLO aLOG entry 2508).

I then observed damping loops would not close, so I switched the sign to the correct sign (+1 for a HLTS) on the SD BOSEM in the coil damping filters, and confirmed this enabled damping loops to close.

A burt snapshot has been taken of the current PR3 configuration, which has also been committed to the userapps svn.

HAM2 witness plates: Installed Dec. 19, 2012
Attached are pictures of witness plates I installed in HAM2 before pumpdown. There are 4" silicon wafers and 1" optics in the chamber, and most are on stage-0 of the ISI or in the beam tube, one 4" wafer is on the HAM2 table surface, near the North edge of the table.

#62 = NW corner of stage-0, showing three 1" optics and one 4" silicon wafer
#63 = beam tube North of HAM2 ISI, showing one 4" silicon wafer
#67 = W side of stage-0, showing one 4" silicon wafer
#70 = beam tube South of HAM2 ISI, showing one 4" silicon wafer
#71 = SW corner of stage-0, showing one 4" silicon wafer
#74 = HAM2 floor, under stage-0, showing two 4" silicon wafers

Not shown, one 4" wafer on the HAM2 table.

- Total number of 1" optics in chamber = 3.

- Total number of 4" wafers in chamber = 8.

MC2 M2 Coil Driver Modification
[Paul F. and Chris M.]

Today we modified the coil driver for the MC2 M2 stage per ECR E1200931 and described in Jeff Kissel's L1200226. The serial number of the triple acquisition driver is S1100023. This gives the middle stage of MC2 a factor of 10 boost in range at low frequencies which is needed for long term (> 5 mins) locking of the input mode cleaner.

Attached is a picture showing the shorts added to channel 1 between resistors R11 & R27 and R10 &R21. Also attached is a before and after transfer fucntion of each channel measured in the acquisition state.

WHAM6 SEI Support Tube Install Underway
Scott Ed Zack & Slim

A little rusty, it has only been 14 years since we did this last but we got the South Tube into HAM6. We did do the hard one first though, the North Tube should go much easier tomorrow. Follow that with the Support Table, position work, and Bellows install.
A few photos for the archives.

MC1 and MC3 TFs
Mark B.

I checked out the basic functionality of MC1 and MC3 and they seem fine after the rerouting of their cables. Matlab TFs will start shortly. The corresponding MEASUREMENT STATUS indicator will flash when a TF is underway on a particular suspension. The damped TFs will be done first in case in case the whole run is not done by the time of the RTCDS v2.6 installation tomorrow and needs to be interrupted.

X Arm and X End status
The tumbleweed situation on X Arm remains dicey. One lane was cleared from the corner to the end however there has been some encroachment due to subsequent weather. The road section from the corner to the mid is a little intimidating because of the height of the tumbleweed piles but is passable as long as you don't hurry too fast. The road section from the mid to the end is somewhat more open.

ICC is complete, the new spool pieces are installed and married up and all doors are returned to the chamber.

Y Arm and Y End status
The tumble weed situation down Y arm has not changed since last week: wide open from corner to mid, one lane open from mid to end. Please be careful of machinery by second beam tube enclosure door from mid.

The vinyl flooring by the front of BSC10 and under the test stand location is completely installed. The leg of the E-module is sitting back down on the floor so the crane is available for use.

BSC 3 HEPI Status
BSC 3 now has its HEPI housing installed and locked in place. The blue-iron brackets are still in place for now but will be moved to BSC 8 for swapping back in the iLIGO stacks.

The hydraulic actuators on BSC 8 will also be moved over to BSC 3. One bolt had galled on BSC 8 horizontal actuator but was cut out. After removal the HEPI foot will need to be fixed.

WHAM3 HEPI Horz L4-C Replaced--***System Now Locked***
This morning I relocked the HEPI elements after yesterday's L4-C replacement.

As I said yesterday, there was motion when I unlocked but after putting the motion into Global Coordinates, the motion suggest these were just strains put into the system when it was locked. There has been a lot of activity at the HAMs between Dial Indicator removal and IPS coming on line. So, I look forward to hearing from IO that the Mode Cleaner is still flashing.
The Global Coordinate shift is 15urad and the average translations are less than 0.1mm after everything is replaced and relocked. The shift from floating to locked is much less than these numbers.
I did not zero out these readings as I did on HAM2 alog5018. The Pier3 Horizontal Actuator may need adjustment; I'll wait to zero HAM3 until that is complete.

The measurement attempt finished on schedule but was a disaster from the point of view of results: the script consistently failed to read data from NDS, even after 25 attempts for each drive segment. This is reminiscent of an old bug that Stuart worked to fix and indeed the same script worked for MC2 the other night. Debugging continues.

Restarted h1broadcast0's daqd process
Restarted the daqd process on h1broadcast0. Prior to doing this, David Barker revised it's broadcaster.ini file to specify the list of channels requested by John Zweizig, and modified the daqdrc file to cause the daqd process to read the broadcaster.ini file.

The date on the h1broadcast0 machine is Jan. 1, although the time of day is correct. This will be corrected.

Undamped and damped TFs completed overnight.

Undamped: /ligo/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/HSTS/H1/MC2/SAGM1/Data/2013-01-03-1041282012_H1SUSMC2_M1_0p01to50Hz_tf.mat
Damped: /ligo/svncommon/SusSVN/sus/trunk/HSTS/H1/MC2/SAGM1/Data/2013-01-03-1041300220_H1SUSMC2_M1_0p01to50Hz_tf.mat

In the undamped data there's a dropout in the L data below 0.5 Hz, but everything else is good and the suspension looks in good shape.

All the damped data is good, but the suspension looks horribly overdamped in Y and P, and the gains need to be checked.

IM3 on a EQ stop: all IMs undamped
I ran a quick test today on IM3, which now has the largest offsets of the 4 HAM AUXs. In the attached plot, red shows the pitch offset, black the yaw offset - blue shows very different behavior when each offset it removed - the damping of the oscillation when the pitch offset is removed shows the optic is touching an EQ stop.

I left all HAM AUXs, IM1, IM2, IM3, and IM4, undamped overnight.

Please keep in mind that the Eddy Current Dampers coupling with pitch is _much_ stronger than that with yaw, so I would't considere the different decay rates as evidence of rubbing.

If rubbing is indeed suspected, I would suggest to check by either running a full set of TF and looking for anomalies, or trying a (small) DC actuation of pitch and yaw in both direction and looking for asymmetries in the displacement measured by the OSEMs.
